This traditional style three-bedroom house in São Gonçalo offers definitive views towards Funchal Bay. The accommodation is all on one level and the layout is very functional and presents excellent indoor outdoor flow.
Originally built in 1961 on a sunny hillside of the São Gonçalo parish, this family home has not being lived in for quite some time. It was being refurbished, bit by bit, however, the works have now stopped with the objective to sell the property as it is.
The main wooden door opens up to an extensive open plan living dining kitchen area, featuring high ceilings and natural light. A fireplace was installed in one corner of the living area, however, at this height above sea level (approx. 250-300 m) it is usually used one week per annum or so. The living room has exterior electric blinds.
Actually, it is the living room and on the main bedroom that offer the nicest view towards Funchal bay.
The traditional Madeiran wooden parquet floor called ‘tacos’ was preserved on this area as well as on the bedrooms, located on the east side of the house.
The grey aluminium shutters were recently installed and could need some maintenance. Most of the windows need to be installed, as the wooden ones were not able to be recuperated.
Most of the exterior area is paved in basalt stones from the pebble beaches of Madeira. In the rear, part of the structure of the built-in barbecue is set, close to the kitchen.
There is an extensive garage for various cars, occupied, at the moment, by various items for a garage sale. It gas a very high ceiling which was divided with a wooden structure to create a storage floor. In the rear there is a service WC, that would need a complete makeover.
The access to the house is done by the exterior staircase.
São Gonçalo is located on the eastern side of Funchal. There are some restaurants, supermarkets, cafés and shops within two or three minutes´ drive from the property. The city centre is just ten minutes away.
The property has a plot area of 436 m2, with 236 m2 construction area.
This is a gem of a house, set in an established area, ten minutes away from the city centre. In need of an extra small investment to be ready to use. – REF: Greyhouse
